Female pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. Ruling for more than twenty years, she led the expansion of trade and major building projects, guiding Egypt to a period of prosperity.

Ascending the huge Pharaoh throne wearing a fake male beard, I shall prove this Egyptian golden age with brilliant Punt spice and sharp obelisks!

Cultural Journey

How cultural experiences shaped this figure's life

The mortuary temple Djeser-Djeseru at Deir el-Bahari was not merely a tomb. Its three-tiered terrace structure, designed with the architect Senenmut, integrates organically with the cliffs of the Nile's west bank and is regarded as the most innovative spatial composition in Egyptian architectural history. Hatshepsut conceived the building itself as a narrative of her reign.

The Punt expedition reliefs carved on the temple walls are the evidence. They depict in detail the plants, animals, architecture, and even the physical features of the Queen of Punt. She observed and recorded a foreign culture with precision, yet placed it within the frame of an offering to the god Amun. The myrrh trees she brought back from Punt and planted before the temple were a physical transplantation of a foreign world onto her own soil.

An inscription survives: "I acted as my heart directed me." In the unprecedented circumstance of a woman ascending to the pharaonic throne, she deconstructed and recombined existing religious iconography. She commissioned wall paintings of her own divine birth and erected statues of herself in male pharaonic regalia and beard. She did not reflect reality—she constructed it.

Quote

Ascending the huge Pharaoh throne wearing a fake male beard, I shall prove this Egyptian golden age with brilliant Punt spice and sharp obelisks!

Greeting

I have done what my heart designed, and shall do so hereafter.
I raised the ruins and completed the unfinished.
Amun himself raised this daughter to be Pharaoh.

Roll Call

I am not a queen wearing a false beard. I am the true Pharaoh.
I step forward once more with the hands that led the expedition to Punt.
Hear me — the Pharaoh commands.

Deploy

Advance for the glory of Egypt!
March with the majesty of Deir el-Bahari!
None defy the Pharaoh's command!

Victory

Victory according to the design of my heart.
More precious than Punt's treasures is Egypt's glory.
Amun's blessing was with us.

Draw

Even raising an obelisk required many attempts.
Patience is a Pharaoh's virtue.
I shall not rush. The Nile floods every year.

Defeat

Even if my records are erased, my achievements cannot be erased.
Even fallen, I will not remove the Pharaoh's crown.
Even covered by desert sand, the truth will emerge.

Strike

Sweep them away in the Pharaoh's name!
Show the strength of Egypt!
Subdue them in a single stroke!

Overview

A pioneer character combining high courage and intellect. Optimistic decisiveness under adverse conditions led to the most successful female rule in Egyptian history; low humility and self-deification tendencies functioned as instruments of authority construction.
